A new restaurant was opened in the Russell neighborhood on Thursday, offering buttery and creative seafood.

Tha Drippin Crab was launched by Darnell “Super Chef” Ferguson, the owner of SuperChefs.

Tha Drippin Crab is located on West Jefferson Street and South 12th Street, and is now part of the newly opened village of West Jefferson, also known as Morro Village.

"10 years after SuperChefs becomes the only one I have here (in Louisville), people will be able to see my growth and be able to see what I do outside of Louisville," Ferguson told WLKY News this week.

Ferguson said that the seafood restaurant will open for a trial operation on Thursday, October 14. It will officially open in about three weeks.

In the first few weeks, the restaurant will be closed on Monday and Tuesday.

"Tha Drippin Crab is these butter sauces. Oh, my goodness," Ferguson said. "You can't get what I got here."

He said the menu will definitely add delicious new options to the area.

"Smoked salmon seafood lasagna with fried lobster tails on top," he told Marvis Herring of WLKY.

"Seafood brilla tacos and seafood soup are dipped in it-just like you eat birria tacos, seafood potato skins filled with candied bacon are just to make sure you never forget SuperChefs," he listed.

Ferguson's business partner, and one of the chefs, showed WLKY News some of the sauces, marinades, dry abrasives and techniques they use to ensure delicious dishes.

"I can't tell you what's in it, but just know that we put it on everything," Austin Harris said while cooking.

Before visitors get their food, they will see huge walls with familiar faces from West Louisville, such as Jefferson County Judge Devin Webb and Louisville City League President and CEO Sadie Carreynolds.

"I want to make sure that people don't think I am the first person to do anything here (in West Louisville)," Ferguson said. "These people are either from the West Side or have invested in the West Side for many years."

In a corridor, the "black influence" decorates the walls.

On the wall art, it explained that the name written on it was a black "celebrity inside and outside the kitchen."

"Thomas Elkins has obtained a patent for a device that helps cool the inside of the refrigerator," one of them wrote.

"Maria Russell-the first black woman to receive a Michelin star," another said.

Ferguson said he hopes that more business owners will find ways to enhance the capacity of communities west of Ninth Street. Now, he thanks the non-profit lending institution that helped him realize his vision. He said he is grateful to his team and the expectations he has received from the public.

"This will become history," Ferguson said. "This will become a milestone. This will become a staple food. This will be a place everyone wants to go."

Ferguson said that Tha Drippin Crab could become a franchise in other states.

Drippin' Crab is hiring bartenders, waiters, waiters and several other positions.
