Bellavista Cemetery will participate in wreath events across the United States at 11 am on December 18th. There will be a short ceremony that includes singing the national anthem, praying and reading each veteran’s name and service department, as the wreath is being placed on the grave by volunteers.

The Arkansas Arts Council of the Arkansas Department of Heritage has announced the winners of the 2022 Governor's Art Award.

Since 1991, the annual award program recognizes individuals and businesses that have made outstanding contributions to the arts in Arkansas. The winners are nominated by the public and then selected by an independent panel of art professionals.

The winners will be commended at the awards ceremony in March 2022.

Art Community Development Award: Ed Clifford of Springdale;

Educational Arts Award: Dr. Timothy Crist of Jonesboro;

Art Award Corporate Sponsor: Cranford Co., Little Rock;

Individual Artist Award: Perrian Hurd of Little Rock;

Jury's Recognition Award: Scottish Heritage Project of Lyon College in Batesville;

Patron Award: Sharon Heflin of Little Rock;

Lifetime Achievement Award: Linda Williams Palmer of Hot Springs.

Hope Cancer Resources' Hope Health Center provides yoga, meditation and fitness classes for cancer patients and caregivers through Zoom and YouTube.

Regardless of the situation, their team of consultants and social workers provide support for cancer patients and their families every day, and pay attention to emotional health.

A certified tobacco therapist can provide support for those who wish to quit smoking through nicotine replacement therapy and counselling.

People who need medical supplies, liquid nutrition, or durable medical equipment (such as shower chairs or walkers) please lend a hand. Donations of new or lightly used items are also accepted.

The Northwest Arkansas Single Parent Scholarship Fund announced the promotion of Krystle Godwin from project director to communications and marketing director.

Godwin received a bachelor's degree from Oklahoma City University in 2008. After working at Wal-Mart and the Bentonville Downtown Company, she found her way into SPSFNWA and held various positions over the past five years, including project, fundraising and marketing roles.

Osher Lifelong Learning Institute announced the following courses for next week:

• December 7: Shifting Gears to Retirement, $19 for members and $34 for non-members. Hear how 50 retirees spend the joys, challenges and opportunities of retirement.

• December 8: Protect your lunch: food defense awareness, $21 for members and $36 for non-members. This course introduces the current issues, challenges and concerns that may put our diet at risk, including deliberate acts of terrorism and food crime; the history and results of greenways in the Razorback area, $25 for members and $40 for non-members. Learn about the planning content of the 37.5-mile area greenway.

• December 9th: Sin City in the Bible Belt, $25 for members and $40 for non-members. Join this course and visit the golden ten years of hot springs.

Ozarks Community Blood Center and Youngblood Automotive Group announced promotions for planes, trains and cars.

Under the sponsorship of Youngblood Auto Group, the weekly draw will provide the winner with a choice of a $1,000 gas card or a $1,000 air or train travel voucher. Any CBCO blood donation event or blood donation center participant will automatically participate in the lottery.

In addition to the weekly lucky draw, all successful donors of any CBCO blood donation event in December will receive a maroon long-sleeved T-shirt to keep you warm on cold winter days.

The plane, train and car lottery is sponsored by Youngblood Auto Group, KOLR-10 and KOZL TV. Listen to Ozarks Live on KOLR-10 every Tuesday at 3:00 in December, and listen to the announcement of the names of the weekly winners.

Dairy Hollow’s Writers’ Colony will host the second annual “Cooking with Jana” event, a festive, virtual, and holiday fundraising event co-hosted with Jana Jones. Jana Jones is a chef at Writers’ Colony. Part of Interactive cooking shows, some holiday parties, very interesting, and live broadcast from Dairy Hollow kitchen at 6:30 pm on December 10th. It is recommended to donate $25 for this event, but we accept any amount. All registrants of the event will receive a link to Zoom and Jones' recipe.
