10 Shonen Characters Who Would Make Great Demon Slayers

Demon slayers need courage, strength and tracking skills to defeat demons, and only a few shonen characters are qualified for this job.

Demon Slayer is a mega-popular anime/manga franchise that embodies the "monster hunter" theme in shonen anime. In Taisho-era Japan, flesh-eating demons roam the night and prey on humans, and only sword-slinging demon slayers can possibly stand up to them and defend the innocent. It's a tough job where many perish in the line of duty.

If too many demon slayers get themselves killed fighting Muzan Kibutsuji's hordes, then their boss, Kaguya Ubuyashiki, can expand his recruitment efforts. He can reach out to other shonen franchises and hire new demon slayers, preferrably skilled fighters who use swords or can be trained to use them. When given a proper uniform and nichirin blade, these shonen characters can make excellent additions to the demon slayer corps, and some might even make Hashira.

Pirate Captain Monkey D. Luffy usually fights bare-handed, and his chef crewmate Sanji Vinsmoke tends to kick his enemies. So, that leaves Roronoa Zoro as the best candidate to step into the Demon Slayer universe and slay some demons. He's a master of the sword, he can even wield three katanas at once.

Zoro has a bad habit of getting lost, so as a demon slayer, he should operate as part of a small team that includes someone who really knows their way around. Once Sanji is pointed in the right direction, he can unleash his trio of nichrin blades and save the day.

Quite a few Bleach characters are sword-wielding Soul Reapers who are used to hunting Hollows, so operating as a demon slayer would be easy for most of them. Kaguya can afford to be picky when recruiting a Soul Reaper to fight for him, and he will ultimately choose Lieutenant Shuhei Hisagi of squad 9.

Shuhei is not only a skilled monster hunter and duelist but also a strict and dutiful fellow who could inspire other demon slayers with his sheer discipline and courage when fighting the Twelve Demon Moons or other foes. He also has a healthy attitude about respecting and fearing power, both his enemys' and his own.

Most ninja characters in Naruto are trained to fight other humans with weapons, tools, and ninjutsu, and only a few of them use swords. Among them, the Demon of the Hidden Mist, Zabuza Momochi, is the best pick to fill out the depleted ranks of demon slayers.

Zabuza is a sword for hire, and if Kaguya Ubuyashiki can show him the money, then Zabuza is in. He can use his jonin-level stealth and assassination skills to take any demon by surprise, even the Moons, then finish the job with a vicious sword strike to the neck. And as a ninja, he's good at hunting and tracking, too.

Some shonen characters would be hired for their raw combat skills, such as Roronoa Zoro and Shuhei Hisagi, but stealth and tracking are also vital skills for demon slayers. Plenty of demons prefer deception and cunning over brute force, such as the swamp demon and even Daki herself.

Shota Aizawa, also known as Eraserhead, is a good pick for the job. He is almost like Batman, using tools, stealth, and cunning to track down villains and capture them, even if they are much stronger than he is. Once he trains to use a nichirin blade, Eraserhead could stalk and dispatch any demon in Taisho-era Tokyo.

Usually, the day is saved with Stone Age science in the story of Dr. Stone, but Senku's ally Kohaku is all about action. She is a nimble, athletic, and clever fighter and explorer who prefers to use swords and knives in battle, and she can hunt practically anything in the forest. Now she's hunting demons.

Kohaku's raw strength is surprisingly high, and that, combined with her agility and fondness for blades, makes her an obvious candidate to restock the demon slayer corps' ranks. She just has to get used to Taisho-era technology and society, which are primitive compared to the modern era but still more advanced than Kohaku's own world.

Even though Edens Zero is primarily a sci-fi shonen anime series, author Hiro Mashima made sure to include some fantasy elements too, including the use of sword-slinging characters and monsters. An example is Rebecca Bluegarden's powerhouse crewmate Homura Kogetsu, a master of the sword.

Homura doesn't have any notable tracking and stealth skills, but she is highly skilled at mortal combat thanks to her training with her robot mentor, Valkyrie herself. Homura could serve as a brute-force demon slayer who can take on the Lower Moons and buy time for a more specialized slayer to finish the job.

The ogre ninja known as Souei is grateful for the name he received from the isekai hero Rimuru Tempest, and he has repaid Rimuru many times with his acts of service. As a shinobi, Souei can use advanced stealth abilities to spy on Rimuru's enemies and report back, and Souei is more than capable of assassination, too.

Souei can use a sword with great skill, and now, he's swapping that sword for a nichirin blade that can take demons' heads clean off. That, combined with Souei's body double and teleportation skills, would make him a scarily effective demon slayer in any mission.

In the original story of Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood, the eyepatch-wearing homunculus Wrath was a villain who was wholly dedicated to Father's cause, but if he got reborn in the Demon Slayer world, he could find much success as a ruthless demon slayer.

Wrath's deadly swordplay would make him a great brute-force fighter, and he also has some strategic and infiltration skills as well. And if that weren't enough, he also has the Ultimate Eye, meaning his supernatural left eye can track any foe's movements with perfect clarity. No demon can ever fool that eye.

The S-ranked wizard Erza Scarlet can use spatial magic to access her many suits of armor from another dimension, which makes her flexible in combat. But even if she cannot use that magic in the Demon Slayer world, Erza would still thrive and probably achieve the rank of Hashira at some point.

Erza is a tough, tenacious, and astonishingly powerful swordswoman who fears no enemy. She also believes in friendship, hope, and justice, which would empower her in battle while battling demons alongside her fellow slayers. Nothing will stop her until she personally takes Muzan's head.

The tanuki girl Raphtalia grew up as an ordinary villager in Melromarc, but now she is Naofumi's #1 fighter and personal bodyguard. She swore to be Naofumi's sword, and she takes that duty seriously while fighting endless hordes of monsters in the Waves.

Raphtalia is pretty good with the sword, and more recently, she claimed the title of Katana Vassal Hero as well, a high honor indeed. Now she is stronger and braver than ever, and she could dispatch plenty of demons on Kaguya's orders to keep humanity safe.
